Show me your habits/actions and I will become your fortune teller!
Truth: What you do in any given moment is often the BEST PREDICTOR of where your life will going.
Do you ever reflect on how you got to where you are today?
If not, use RIGHT NOW as an opportunity to do so.
Fairly often I find myself asking "how did I get to this very moment of time?"
And this leads me down the rabbit hole of identifying the different metrics that help me in any given moment... Time
People
Money
Resources
Luck
They all play a factor.
Yet, what is the "atom" of all of the above.
The atoms are your daily habits.
What you do in any given moment is often the predictor of where your life will go.
Yes random chance and "luck" play a part. For sure.
Yet, when talking about the things YOU CAN CONTROL....
Habits are your atoms.
They are the building blocks you must stack to become who you want to become... or the person you don't. So what do your daily habits look like? Let's play a game of I will show you mine...in hopes you choose to reflect upon yours.
1. I avoid using my cell phone first thing in the morning. How? I charge the phone away from the bed to avoid checking emails and social media immediately after waking up. 2. Use red light therapy: After brushing my teeth, I sit in front of my MitoRedlight Pro 1500 for 10 minutes front and back, to boost mood, energy, muscle recovery, and skin health. A great day starts with a great morning, redlight is a keystone habit that sets me up for a successful morning.
3. Read books: I typically read for at least 10-20 minutes right when I wake up (as I am sitting in front of my redlight) to become calmer, more knowledgeable, and confident. I place books near my couch, in my office, near my kitchen table and near my bed to encourage myself to open them more frequently.
4. Don't watch TV or news: I focus on my personal goals and relationships instead of getting caught in external stories. I am the main character in my life, and I treat myself as such!
5. Drink enough water: Staying hydrated is a huge priority of mine. By drinking at least a gallon of water daily, I ensure I hit my mark everyday. Consider adding lemon juice, salt, or electrolytes. (I love Redmond Re-Lyte - use code THRIVEONLIFE for a discount). 6. Exercise and get outside: Movement and spending time outdoors contributes to me having a better mood, more energy, and higher quality of sleep. If I don't lift/run, or get outside, I don't consider it to be a "great" day.
7. Walk for 30 minutes to an hour daily: After dinner I walk with my wife and son, or during long days of work I will take walking conference calls/meetings. Walking is highly underrated! 8. Abstain from alcohol and marijuana: I am currently 3+ years into my sobriety journey, (I talk about this on my YouTube channel here) and the positive impact it has had on my mental, physical, and spiritual state has been incredible. I now have better days because I have taken these substances out of them. 9. Sauna and Ice: Both modalities help me with muscle recovery and reducing inflammation that I accrue from physical activity, as well as my autoimmune disease. I also have built some amazing relationships through these recovery methods. Great recovery = great days.
10. My favorite, and probably most underrated to others, having a close-knit community that gives me a sense of purpose, personal growth, reduced stress, and increased longevity. Rising tides lift all ships . Great people = Great days = Great life.
Now, it's your turn.
What are your daily habits that are shaping your life?!?
Are there any I missed?
Let me know if so!
